This orchid was once common all over the banks of the Holloway. Eight specimens were found in July 1977 in the orchard of Downs Croft, and were marked with stakes. No more appeared for the next five summers, but in 1983 several were found flourishing in the neighbourhood. AERE have records of 186 orchids in a sample square near Frome Road in 1983.
